Movie Galleries - Some Help

Ok, for those of you who are doing these, I am currently debating on whether or not to do them.

I have all the software and tools for video editing from my Multimedia days, and when I built my movie gallery for choker, I pulled them out, installed them and optimized the shit out of my movie to get it down to where it needed to be to run smoothly, and not put a drain on my server. however, I know a choker gallery is easy compared to any other gallery.

For a standard movie gallery what do you think should be the following.

1) Number of clips
2) File format (Can it be wmv, asf, avi, mpg, mov? What do the MPG's take?)
3) Movie size, I know they have to be longer than 10 seconds, but since I can optimize the hell out of a movie, and make a 10 second clip with audio below 300K, and still look and sound decent, what do the MPG's accept?

Thanks in advance for your help
