All jokes aside, if anyone can think back to Cheshire... sure, she got attention but when people needed help they called Eric. That's the only way a cute chick, or any other attention grabbing person, that doesn't know bupkes about how to help me convert my specific traffic can be useful in my opinion... as a setup to reel me in then hand me off to someone that is useful. Otherwise she will just annoy the shit out of me saying unsolicited stuff on ICQ like:
"Are you sending traffic? Have you tried our new banners? They are great! We have 4 new sites that are converting great too... oh wait, did you say you don't have any gay traffic? But your site is called Ass Bangers so I thought... Oh, well try them anyway, ya never know! Send some clicks! Oh, did you say you need better feeds? I'm not sure how that works but I can check on it and get back to you."
That is what's going to happen and it would make me stop sending any traffic unless you have some above average converting sites that I have history with. That's just my .02

Good post ...
What makes a smart affiliate manager is relative to the webmasters they are working with. Its an excellent idea to have a hot, bubbly chick at the front of the business who gets attention & works with the newbies, to learn together ... if someone comes along with a question or request that is above her head, she passes it up the chain & this is how big businesses end up with premium account reps through to sales people.
If you go to a bank the person depositing $1 million gets a different rep to the one depositing $10. Yes the $10 guy can always turn into the $1 million guy but he simply isn't yet, so the resources he needs are just different - not more or less important, just different. The well presented bubbly person always meets you at the counter (well, maybe not at the bank!!)
I don't think its really possible anymore for 1 rep to manage an entire program and effectively service every webmaster from the newbie to the 200+ per day client. The industry has become too broad & I think the best programs these days have a number of reps who work together as a multi-skilled team (not the sales teams that cut each other off & work against each other!!).
