A Canadian Company with servers in the US would NEVER ask you to comply, as they are a Canadian company, and they are still not held to American Laws even if their servers are in the states.

A Canadian hosting with an American Company hosting in the states is still only held to Canadian laws, and any host worth having will not ask to see 2257 compliance, as the host is not liable for what the server renters put online. While the host holds the right to shut your service off at any time, any host worth having would require obvious illegal activity or a court order.

As a side note, the FBI would have a bitch of a time getting a court order to shut down a US server owned by a Canadian for not complying with US laws.
By bitch of a time, I mean they would never get it. All they could do would be lean on the host, and again any host worth having will have legal counsel that will tell them to do nothing.

But best bet is to still call a lawyer, the 30 minutes on the phone you would need, or even for him to draft a letter to give you peace of mind will be less then 200 bucks.
