The acid in the papaya is helping your stomach. Nearly any food with a good amount of acid will do that.

I however have a bed time ritual of a tea time with a very small snack, typically some fiber rich cookie, bananna bread, zuchinnie bread, or even a finger sandwhich on a whole grain sandwich. It just lets my body know its time to relax and go to sleep. Almost always it is some form of a green tea or specialty tea. Occassionally it will be an herbal tea like sleepy time or whatever.

Also since I am trying to cut out caffine I have found that an apple or a glass of quality apple juice will wake me up just as well as coffee used to.
