Every time I am surfing in the summertime, most of the surfers just stare with amazement at all the people bouncing around in the water. The other day, some little boy almost drowned, they had to go save him. I have had to help people out a few times. Parents just let their kids go. Adults also jump in the water thinking they are good enough swimmers.
I think a lot of people think the water is like Florida. It isn't. Its very rough with massive rip tides.
These two guys that died....you see that every night during the summer. Many of the people that do it come in pale as a ghost once they realize how tough it can be to get back in.

No shit bro... I swam for my first time in the ocean here @ Zuma.. and I was like woah. Having to dive under the waves and contend with the underflow was kinda strange, I swam in FL and it was the total opposite so I know what ya mean..
I'm gonna learn how to surf man, now that I'm here in LA it is easy to get to the water.. I always wanted to living in the bay area, but the water there is soooo fucking cold.. Maybe you and me can get together and you can help me out getting the basics down..
