It comes down to what keeps your members interested in staying. Some want lots of updates, other want soo much content they never get bored. There is no way to keep everyone happy. The goal is to aim for a certain % of retention and build with it. It also comes down to your business model, how much xsales, upsales you are doing. There are a lot of variables in what works.

I know this and not proposing it's a solution that will fit all. But it might fit some.
Before you upsell or cross sell them would sponsors and affiliates like to keep members a few weeks longer on average?
Would more surfers become members if the paysite was bigger?
Does the cost of exclusive content limit some from building their members area?
When you prefer to own rather than lease content?
Would $600 a month invested in 7 videos and 22 images sets, THAT ARE SUITABLE for your paysite be good investment?
