Plus I think it's fair, because for centuries women have been looking after themselves, trying to be more attractive, trying to be up to date in fashion and looks... Why shouldn't men do the same thing?
For example in the 20th-21st centuries men started to look after their bodies, working our in the gyms, tracking their meals. A lot of men are doing these things now. Why not add the other things to our armory? Why not taking care of skin, haircut, nails? Not too much of course, but they can be neat and good looking.
And one more example - in medieval times men took bath once a month. Shall we do the same thing nowadays? I doubt...
So it's just evolution, progress... however you call it

men starting working out because the human lifestyle has changed into one that gets the body out of its natural form. go work in a field 8 hours a day like many people before that time and you wont need to workout or track meals.
