Those companies that invested only in software have no skin in the game. It doesn't matter if there are torrent sites, password trading sites, or any other hacks out there because THEY HAVE NOTHING TO STEAL. Who is going to steal a bunch of dating profiles, a cam girl listing, or a set of pictures of sex toys still in the boxes? Nobody. It has no value, nothing to steal.
So these guys have no skin in the game, nothing on the table, so they supprt the heck of the torrent sites, password sites, "user forums" that hotlink and steal, the fusker style sites, Zango style traffic redirectors, the newgroup sites... because none of the activity directly affects their business.
There is one way to make it hurt thier business, it is when people with skin in the game stop using them, stop supporting them, and stop tolerating them.
I dare programs to put up a "no dating, no cam, and no text ads allowed on the same page as our content" rule. That would serious screw up those companies and fix what has been a major issue for the industry.
