Whole family knows except one churchlady aunt, she gets the same story as random strangers who ask what I do.

I always start vague: "I do internet stuff" or "I have an internet business." Vast majority of folks stop there.

Next step in response to "Oh really, tell me more?" type questions: "I build web pages that look good to the search engines and sell ad space on them. You know, like all those ads from Google that you see everywhere?"

I've only ever met like, three people who were genuinely interested enough to press pass that level of detail. And, in pretty much every case, they were genuinely interested, and cool enough to handle the rest of the truth, so they got it.
