Rethink the whole process, Shok. The last place we lived in that had a fireplace, my amazonian housemate dragged our tree out in the back yard, chopped the boughs off, and stuck them in a basket next to the firewood bin in the den. We used the boughs as kindling -- it smelled good, and the occasional pop from the pine needles made the cats jump and freak out...warmth and entertainment!
