We've already implemented (a few days ago) the upload plan for users and more of them are taking advantage of it each day. Since then, as soon as we see that a button is loading slow we upload it to our server and show it from there. Also, when we notice a button coming up 404 we temporarily disable the button from showing until the owner corrects the problem. That of course only happens when the button is not being served from our end.
Regarding Flash buttons, we've disabled their use in ******* specifically because of the loading times.
We're working on more ways to improve the speed, and honestly right now they take no more time to load than any other buttons do. Most of the time no one would have any idea the button is being served by us unless they held their mouse over the sig. At that point the button has already done its job and attracted a viewer.
