Well, they did do something they shouldn't have, and the consequence to that should be a punishment in one way or another. I'm not sure exactly what the right punishment would be precisely, but jail time or even probation is obviously not appropriate here.

When I was in school, I was taught by my Dad to not take crap from anyone and would have handled this on my own in one way or another, and considering how wimpy that kid looked, I probably just would have decked him.
