Assuming that those numbers are true and the projections they suggest become reality and whites become a minority--so what?

Mexico has a majority mestizo population but with a very tiny white minority. Guess who runs the country. Guess who owns the economic and legal infrastructure.

There are tons of countries where an ethnic minority control the economic, legal, and social apparatus despite the demographic and electoral strength of the majority. Of course there are violent examples of this uneasy coexistence -- see Indonesia, Malaysia, and Idi Amin's Uganda. But there's also the example of Singapore.

Maybe the real concern is not whether white Americans will become an ethnic minority but whether the respect for the American way of life and American culture will become the minority view as well. This country successfully assimilated Europeans from cultural backgrounds that were very different from the Anglo Saxon Protestant orientation of its founders. The question is can it do the trick again with this new wave of immigrants.
