I agree with you that an Akita could tear a Pit apart, but as far as the '99.999% of pit bulls born today are NOT bred for fighting', I can't go for.

Countless attacks show just how unsuitable this breed is for some people. Any pit bull that shows human aggression of any form should be euthanized and not once bred.
You don't hear of Akita or German Shepard fighting rings anywhere, but
you do hear about Pit Bull fighting rings all the time. As a matter of fact, just last summer, there was a big thing here about that on the news and we've seen mentions about it since. I am sure this is not a situation just in our city either.
