At the end of the day everybody wants police, prisons, garbage men, libraries, parks, armies, the FDA, and a basic educated populace (thus mandatory and universal education). How much "more" or "less" Government is required will never satisfy anybody, except for individuals that love living 100% off the system or corporations and CEOs that are completely subsidized by government tax dollars to the tune of millions, or government officials that get paid big salaries yet don't even show up for "work".
I think Brad made the point earlier that both private and/or public healthcare could probably work equally well, but it all depends upon how it's managed.
