You can't leave stuff like that out where your dog can get it. Dogs are little small kids, they will eat anything. My black lab is almost four now. When she was one I had left a bowl of small candy canes on the table for guests to eat since it was around Christmas time. I came back and she had eaten the whole bowl. That was 25 candy canes. So I took her to the vet and they said she will be fine, but that dogs are like toddlers and will eat anything. Husker has eaten crayons, a pencil, she even ate through half of the door on the side of my house. So now I don't leave anything down that I think she will eat. I dog proofed the house, and have had no problems since. Thankfully my German Shepherd doesn't eat anything in site.
