28-year-old Lester Williams, an inmate at the Marion County Jail in Florida, is currently under suicide watch and strapped down after he attempted suicide with a pen and a Bible Saturday night.
Williams attempted to use the Bible to hammer a pen into his left eye. He was subdued with a taser in order to stop him from injuring himself any further. His injuries are said not to be serious.
He was treated at the University of Florida's Shands hospital and returned to jail. Williams has been serving time since 2003 for battery on a law enforcement officer and inmate, sexual battery and false imprisonment.
