If you licensed the text legally, I'm surprised your agreement does not limit you to a single use of that text, Unless it's marketing prose, if you're seriously trying to build SE traffic, put the content in one good place and make sure that there are links to it.

If you're getting text which is already shared by others, don't expect much. Sloppy seconds are just as cheap in SEO as they are in real life.
Thanks for the advice. I have a lot of stories for my members area but was just wondering if I could use some of them for a bit of SEO but it's probably not really worth the time.
