A mixture of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, freestyle wrestling, Japanese Judo and Russian Sambo; the ADCC championships were created by Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates. After learning BJJ while attending college in California, he fell in love with grappling and created a tournament where different styles could compete with each other. Since 1998, the ADCC competition has become the most prestigious submission wrestling event on Earth. Every other year, the best grapplers in the world step onto the mat to face each other.
