P2P won't go away. There is a solid core of users that would do this stuff not matter what, they aren't motivated by money.
The current explosion on the P2P market is search sites, locators, and "seekers". These sites are packed with ads (almost exclusively from a very few adult companies) and they are run because they are profitable. Little bandwidth, little maintenance, and an endless supply of fresh content served up every minute.
Distributing files, specifically branding material and hoping for an audience to buy into it and buy the rest of the site is an interesting concept, but marginal. Once the hardcore people find out about your site, it is only a short time before full site rips will be out there killing your product.
Give a sample to a theif, and he will figure out how to steal the rest.
