That's the bottom line. You think this can happen and I don't. I don't believe the industry will ever get together to try to stop something if some of them are profiting from it. It didn't happen for Zango. Most sponsors are still one small step removed from zango traffic at most.
What makes you think they will unite against torrents? How many sponsors have you seen in the torrent threads saying how bad it is, that they would never do it and we should all get together? **crickets**
Has it ever happened before? Not to my knowledge but I'm far from an industry history expert.
I'm not talking about acacia or 2257 or .xxx ...well maybe I am as I seem to remember disagreements there based on who will profit depending on the outcome...
What about can spam? Was that the result of Industry leaders being concerned that porn email spam was ruining the rep of the adult industry and getting together to stop it?
I thought it was about ISPs and Businesses pressuring the government into acting and most Adult sponsors reacting with "Sorry guys I know it sucks but we can't take your mail traffic anymore as we don't want to get busted"
Even if every adult sponsor dropped Torrents, mainstream ones would no doubt be quite happy to pick up the slack so I don't see even that impossibility as anywhere near a 50% solution at all unfortunately.
