BTW U dont "need" the $140 card if you dont plan to spend more than 100k. In that case just get the Gold card. But the platinum is cool cause the 2 miles per $ spent pilicy applies to all Star Alliance purchase plus gas, groceries, etc. IMO, it's worth it.
