eh, sorry, i just read your post again. the safe-mode trick usually only works for hangs on startup, not computers that work. you could try it, but i doubt it will do any good (but it's good advice in the future! works in xp and 2000).
best bet, if you have a really custom bios setup, write it all down or remember it, then default the bios. might even have to go so far as to clear the cmos, but i doubt that. that requires opening the case, btw. you can reset the bios in the bios setup tho, that setting is most likely on the first page in setup.
