Doctor Says Sleep Sex Is Real Disorder
A researcher said that he has cataloged a range of problems that could be classified as sleep-related sex disorders.
Dr. Carlos Schenck reported in the journal Sleep that sleepsex, or sexsomnia, is becoming more common.
"It seems that more and more reports are surfacing of abnormal sexual behaviors emerging during sleep," he said.
He also said that while some people think the behavior -- which can include attempting sex with others or touching oneself, among other things -- is funny, the people it happens to are often disturbed, or embarrassed. That can make them less likely to seek help.
