Ok, I don't want to get into a debate and what I will say may be unpopular... but...
first of all, did a tragedy happen to him? nah, he gets married, so it's sounds like a good thing (assumining he has a prenup lol

second, it seems like he's succesfull already, he hasn't any financial problems, it's possible that he could afford what he wants to get by himself
third, i know he's on a wheelchair, but from his previous long thread about this, I got the impression he doesn't want to be treated differently because of it.
Being a webmaster and working from home offers him the same chances biz wise as any of us has. Since ASM is on a wheelchair, he doesnt drive a car... Most GFY'ers drive cars in the price of this Ibot wheelchair.... if he wasn't on a wheelchair, he'd be driving one too, - would GFY be paying for it?
Forth, he was asking for donations directly and even prepared a website about this. The main reasoning was that he helped GFY'ers so much and contributed so much that now we owe him something... yes, I definitely liked his posts and those who were in direct relations with him would most likely appreciate his help as well, but why setting up a website about it and then listing the people who donated and giving them stars depending on the amount they donated?

ok, I re-read what I said, and now I will get 10 people saying "if you don't want to donate, then stay away of threads like this...." but this thread was precisely asking why people aren't donating
