I owned a 1969 Triumph 750 Trident when I was about 20. It was a chopper though with a Santee hardtail frame and a glide front end.
I started riding bikes and racing motocross when I was like 15 and stopped when I turned 18.
When I was 18, I got a 1942 H-D 45 c.i. flathead (total chopper: suicide shift, peanut tank, way over front end, a sissy bar that would poke someone's eye out when parked) and I never went back.
I had friends that would let me ride their sportsters in my down time, and I never really felt comfortable on them.
I have thought about getting a Buell or Ducati, but I may be getting too old for that.
