This shit is amazing. The ability to communicate with apes has surpassed the procedures I learned in college decades ago studying primates.
The theories that animals could indeed grasp what we consider higher concepts has proven itself out. I argued that certainly animals could, but their existence, the way their entire beingness is expressed means they don't have to to survive. An alligator is an alligator. It's not a diplomat. Yet you take away all it's impulses and environmental dangers and at the core you'ld have someone willing to talk about the weather. Problem is you'ld need surgery to do that.
Primates however are different and the technology used here could well be a way to improve our computer designs and interactive procedures in the future.
I keep thinking of 'Planet of the Apes'.
