I'd like to note that SEOing your template is just one part to SEO Wordpress; the other is to use all the great SEO plugins available for Wordpress. I'll be writing that guide up once I get back from drunken filled Memorial Day Weekend
Aside from that, do the usual for SEO, ie write keyword rich content and build those links!
