Fraternal/ Civic/ Charitable organizations: Would you join one?
Would you ever join a fraternal/ civic organization such as freemasons, elk, moose, ruritan, optimist, etc.?
I've been interested in joining Freemasons for a while. My grandfather was a Freemason. The thing I don't like is that you have to believe in a Supreme Being that they too-often call God. But the others I listed are (supposedly) not religious and solely charitable/ civic in nature, but I think they lack that "brotherhood" aspect of Freemasonry.
The problem I have is in knowing which (if any) to choose. Not the least of my reasons is the fact that they're filled with OLD people. I like the idea of a fraternal organization that does good in the community. I like the idea of doing something GOOD for a fucking change.
What do you think?
