Elli is right. There were more Mom and Pop amateur sites back in '99 and '00 making good $$. Lots of those used AVS, Globill, i.e. the billing companies that have vanished, they were small operations without their own merchant accounts. Lots of them have just vanished. The new 'amateurs' are all backed by big companies that have merchant accounts.
