If only that was the real reason they went. They won't go to africa for the worst attrocities, they've already proven that. What they really went for is to secure their hold in the middle east for the future, because that's where the battles will be fought and they need some kind of control. With israel's US-made army (4th largest in the world for a country the size of New Jersey I read somewhere) plus the US occupancy in Iraq = stranglehold on the region.
Plus they won't stop fighting, they think God is telling them to do it, that it's their holy duty. So the US will keep blaming them for keeping the shit going, and stay, or even escalate.
