Its a rather sweeping statement but then again I would come up with a sweeping statement of my own in that opera sounds fucking atrocious sung in English.
A couple of groups that spring to mind, for metal Rammstein are great, for pop check out Niagara from France (not sure if she is still around but when MTV used to be good they played a couple of good songs).
