i think that's great - i can't imagine being a kid who was bullied relentlessly - there were always a couple kids who got it bad, most kids suffer some bullying but they have other friends and they can get over it. if more parents were made responsible financially for the actions of their kids you'd see less of this kind of thing.

i'm not a bleeding heart, in most cases getting bullied just makes you stronger but there are cases where the victim has no chance to fight back and the world is against him. hell I remember one kid who not only had all the kids picking on him but some teachers also got into the act. kids are prisoners, it's not like they can pick up and move to another town, go to another school, quit school - they are hostages.
