What good stuff can ya say about a person who died? It's not easy...
Whether you are religious or not, - Falwell was an abuser of religion and a user of people. A "Reverend" in the true sense - he sure was not.
Falwell typifies a collection of... basically cults, who masquerade as churches - complete with alleged "educational establishments" used to promote their agendas while running the operation as a business and fleeing their "converts". This has got to be one of the most sick and cynical "use" of people ever - even worse that they instill their bullshit into young people under the name of religion and education.
Falwell and his "associates" have read US culture very well and knew their market - there are many people who want to believe in something or have a need for something - these are his revenue sources. The slant of connecting religion to govt or political parties is yet another deviant warp - the functions of govt never did involve religious opinions any more than it involves what hairstylist a politician uses.
Unfortunately Falwell is not alone - there is competition in the God biz and people like Roberston et al all play their role in "religious catering" to a naive marketplace. In the process, combined, they are prob the most divisive element in US society - a common characteristic of a cult.
Was he of any use to anyone? Probably was - but the other aspects drowned any good he may have been...
