Yep multihome is the way to go lately. Having another network to clean up routes when something goes wrong is the right way to do the hosting biz. I think the days of hosting companies that do 100% Cogent are coming to an end.
I also think many customers are having a hard time understanding peering and what some hosting companies are able to do now with BGP. It's better to have hosting companies optimizing across multiple networks then just one. It's also nice if they are in a location like PAIX where they can peer off traffic to other networks. Currently we are doing that with over 30 private networks and customers have been really loving it.
Customers should be checking out if the hosting company has more then a couple of pipes to route traffic through. With that recent Time Warner issue and Cogent, there were alot of dollars lost for 100% Cogent customers.
