To answer a few questions, yes I did have a statement almost exactly like this one, same kind of getting screwed.
The reason we tried it again is because the last party everyone got in real smoothly, no problems. I figured they've learned and now they understand how to handle a massive crowd.
The biggest problem they have is subcontracting security that are dick heads. And from what I hear from local club people, they're very crooked. It's not a coincidence this keeps happening.
To answer Serge's question of "let the floor people in at hour X and VIP's at X+2 hours"
No shit Sherlock! LOL I haven't said that since grade school. I know, I know, I know. But the venue fucked that up when they changed out 10:30 VIP line to 11:45. Why? Because they got greedy and threw a show right before ours, so we couldn't get in yet. Imagine if VIP lines were at 11:45 and regular pass holders got in at 1:45 am. Xzibit didn't perform until 3:40 am as it was. Great idea, I've been doing exactly that, but they fucked me up again with lies.
From Got XXX:
"I hope that you read my whole statement about the VIP passes D-Money, as I said you made up for what (at the moment) I felt slighted about when you tossed me the 6 tickets, so don't think I'm getting all bithcy about it, and now that I understand why others were handing out tickets, I'm not mad about that part at all and always was glad that I bought mine because I believe in supporting great things.
This was my first time to the Expo despite being a 7 year veteran of this business and had very little understanding of how things work. And for the record, next time I go, you can damn sure bet that I'll buy VIP tickets again. Just to clear up something I'm not straight on, if I bought a sponsorship package, that would get me a Sponsor pass, right?"
Believe it or not, we really made this a real VIP, we weren't just giving them to everyone, ask anyone who tried our booth. The venue closed the balcony onthe second level and that made it seem like too many people were there. Had it been opened, it would have been awesome. And the only way to get a sponsor pass is to be a MAIN sponsor. We call it a SPONSOR pass to avoid the confusion from VIP passes. You can buy a sponsorship which includes VIP's. I can see how it's confusing, so I went out of my way to explain it to almost everyone. I even threw in a couple sponsor passes anyway to most smaller package buyers to make them happy.

I don't think I've read a post that said it wasn't good. The party was awesome for those who stayed. It was within the top 2 Players Ball's ever, in my opinion and most others. If you ask people who stayed til 4:30 am, they loved it and had a blast. Most people who say they didn't like it didn't really stay to see it. Digital Underground didn't start until around 2:30 am or so. I can understand people getting tired and wanting to leave, you can only ask so much from people. And I do appreciate those who stayed.
For the record, if one more muther fucker sweats me about VIP passes or backstage passes the night of the show, I'll ignore you. We have a booth for 3 days, no reason people can't talk to me then. When shit goes down like this one, I have bigger problems to deal with.
Also, I didn't want anyone backstage, only the performers and people who needed to get an award. The venue screwed that up and let all of those people back there It makes it hard to get artists to begin their sets when idiots are standing on stage acting stupid. Why do they need to be up there? Are they performing or something? The hot chicks I have tolerence for, cause I'm a guy and that's the way a guy thinks. But a bunch of druck dudes crowding the stage when they shouldn't be there is dumb. We almost didn't get Xzibit to perform because of it.
OK, I'm done venting, back to being a diplomat.
