I think it stems a lot of times from not only lack of any real exercise but also from a bad relationship with food. Many people consider food to be a source of comfort, a solution to boredom or as a festive ocassion. When you view food as a source of fuel instead it's a lot easier to lose and keep weight off. You wouldn't sit around with all your friends in a gas station for hours pumping gas, so why do it at the dinner table?
