Sure you can be a shadow priest which more than likely you will while leveling, but in groups 99% of the time you will be healing.

shadow priests are the ones from the dark side lol.When I was creating my character, my bf sugested that it was best for me to be a priest, just because I would be invited in the groups, and there would be no complicated things to do, exept healing, so I did that and it's been great so far
And about that, how much time you need to get to level 10
I wasn't playing all day every day, I just played for few days, all in all 6h max.
