I feel your pain. I was just talking about this recently with someone.
In the last few weeks, I have encountered so many people, that is if I got through the phone system. and when I did, it was worse talking to a real person because they consciously DON'T CARE.
They acted like they are doing you a favor.
Just in the last few weeks, we have come up against the rudest customer service people with:
Bank of America
Comcast Cable
Medical Insurance Company
American Express
American Express again
B of A Visa
Doctors office
Car Dealership
Car Mechanic
Car Parts
American Airlines
America West Airlines
US Airways
AA Advantage Department
Mortgage companies
Home insurance company
and on top of it, it's not just one divison, you get transferred to like 5 and nobody says its their department. ugh
I am not kidding. me and my assistant starting making a list of 'customer service from hell' of companies we have had to contend with in the last few weeks. These are just some of them.
It has become the biggest time waster. You can spend half your day going in circles with this stuff.
My time is worth more money, so I actually hired soemone to do the stuff above for me and I pay them to do it. It's cheaper than my doing it and losing business time as well as its cheaper than bailing me out of jail later because I will eventually snap on one of these morons.
I always ask for a supervisor if I don't get any service with a minute on a call with a yahoo. and I tell my asst to do the same. she will go the first like 3 rounds with them, saying she's called many times, this is what so and so said, oh, you don't know so and so and you want me to start again for the 5th time? hmmmmm.
so we go to the next level.
And some of these assholes actually got nice when I threatened to take all my bank accounts somewhere else after 12 years.
I threatened to leave American Express after 15 years, and I made sure all these operators knew it was because of them.
That straightened them out a bit and one or two actually realized they could maybe get in trouble.
It's just that customer service use to endear you to a brand/a company. They actually cared about their customers. Now you feel like they are doing you a favor if you manage to get to speak with a live person.
Anyway, this is my bitch, I see I am not the only person who has noticed how bad things have become
