These guys never actually ended up in jail again - they already had a ... fairly extensive "career" robbing banks etc
and some had spent almost 30 years in jail over their lifetimes - they had no intention of going back if they could help it.
There was also an "honor" inbuilt - they would never steal from an individual - it was always banks/insurance companies etc. They also never shot anyone in the progress of a robbery (favorite was bang a few shots into the ceiling of a bank and bring down the plaster
). They would never take drugs or sell drugs - drug dealing was regarded as scum world for "amateurs"
Only one who had a shorter life was a guy who had a daughter who ended up on drugs and that eventually killed her. He was totally screwed up over his daughter dying this way that he closed the store on a Saturday night and drove 50 ish miles and booked into a hotel and committed suicide by drug overdose. He was a very genuine/loyal guy and a pity he ended up that way.
