You're still getting paid in the strong(er) currency. $1US is still worth more than $1CAD. So in fact, MOST Canadian's are getting paid in the weaker currency. The stronger their currency gets, the better it is for them, in general.

SO basically what you're hoping for is devaluation of your own currency for your selfish needs. Fuck every other Canadian, friends and family included, damnit I want 40% more for me! Fuck clawing back wasted money from welfare moms and Indians, devalue the currency god damnit!
You cannot be serious? $1 is not still $1. When I started in 2001 I made $X to pay my bills and live here in Canada. Because of the rate I make less to pay my bills and live here in Canada. I pay my bills here in Canada so whatever I made CONVERTED to Canadian is my income I pay bills with and report to Revenue Canada. Due to the dollar it has dropped if you are making the same now as 2-5 years ago. Income is money earned in US$ converted to Canadian as far the gov't is concerned.

Now thankfully I make a lot more than I did in 2001 but a guy can dream about what it could be can't he?

Your theory on other Canadians in not entirely true. There are some issues yes but things like tourism hurt as less Americans find it attractive to travel here. We have high gas prices, taxes on purchases, ect so with a low exchange rate it is not viable to come here. And most Canadians never leave the country. And since the dollar has gotten stronger name something that has gone down in price to benefit the "regular" Canadians.
