i don't think anyone has questioned why people do this, sure there is money to be made running a torrent site. Just like there is money to be made runnig a chop shop or drug ring.
"A" sponsor could live off of this. Possibly for dating and cams, but you are crazy if you think porn sites would benefit from advertising on sites where they give all of their members area content away for free.
Don't think it is by chance that AFF and Cams is dating and and webcams. They advertise on these sites because not only does it make them money but it hurts their competion. Think about it.
