We're talking about websites offering directions to content they don't own license to... I don't think it's fair to put these guys in the same light as rapists and sexual predators.

Go take a quick look on PB... take a single page, any single page of software, and figure out what the retail value of that software is. Then multiply it by 10,000 times (to allow for 10,000 downloads of each) and that is the amount of commercial harm that the site has done - just for that single page of software on a single day.
They aren't jaywalkers... and if that is what you think, you need to go back to the shop to have your moral compass reset, it is most certainly broken.
