Have you noticed that you never hear anyone say that they are lower middle class, or middle middle class?
Only over-extended on their credit cards, wannabe rich people, helplessly hoping to distinguish themselves from the middle class that belong to, describe themselves by terms such as upper middle class.
There is nothing more middle class than that.
