Only know of one person who was jailed of 7 days for "contempt" - she was asked to apologize for something and refused to do so, simply because she was "right" and considered no need for an apology.
Judge tried to "persuade" her and threatened a fine of.. not much, about $300, - and back comes the reply "Who do you think I am?? Ivana Trump??"
Judge then tried to persuade again and if she still refused, would have to order jail time. "Fine... you must act as the law states - that is your duty" So, he sentenced her to seven days, - but let her loose in four
