Back when I was in the telecom biz we had a power outage (in Atlanta - another one of those backwoods areas) for about 3 days in our switch. Considering we had all the LD for the Atlanta Airport payphones (back in the old days before everyone 12 year old had a cellphone), it was kinda important to stay up, but 3 days straight with a center that big and we were hurting BAD. It came back on Monday afternoon - not a minute too soon as I think we were tapped out even after hitting the ATM machines.
