Yes it does, has since last year. My Samsung takes a 1080P signal over component and VGA. If a set doesn't accept 1080P over component (like most Sony sets), then 99% of them will take 1080P over VGA.
All the games are currently upscaled to 1080P if you choose that option in the dashboard, and there are some 1080P native games coming out as well, the most recent one is Virtua Tennis 3.
