Taxes are based on the price of the ticket so it only makes sense her ticket is less than yours, even though yours is "free". Same thing happens to people who work for airlines and pay taxes on their non-rev flights.

It's also akin to going to a restaurant, getting a freebie meal and tipping on what the meal WOULD have been, not what you actually paid.

And if you're not kidding about putting the GF in coach while you sit in first, I'm cyber-kneeing you in the nuts!! ;)
