I have found that sometimes I can mention those more exploitative scenarios to book a girl for a flat session fee rather than hourly.
Because if I paid a girl by the hour, you bet your ass she would show up, we would start taking pics, video, and keep running through setups until I felt like I was earning a 400% return on what I was shooting by selling the content.
If I tell a girl that we are going to shoot 4 posed sets, or whatever the breakdown is, we can agree on a flat fee ahead of time. If it goes long or she is nervous and it takes awhile, I do not have to pay any extra. Nor do I have any incentive to rush through things and get lesser results.
I was never approached by Cassie...
Lately, I am seeing a rather high turnover amongst girls making the rounds with the So. Cal websites. Most can only get so much work before they are considered "used up," and if they don't get into more mainstream videos, that is pretty much it.
From an objective viewpoint, it would make more sense for them to do one really good shoot with NastyDollars or BangBus, where they may even be able to bring their own male talent, and make solid money for one scene, rather than collect a few hundred here and there from the same sites every girl works with.
It has become my instinct if I meet a new girl who hasn't really shot for anyone yet and I get along with her on a friendship level, I really want to disuade her from getting into the circuit and trying to make this her career.
I would hazard a guess that most girls make $2500 or so max from hitting the regular sites (though I would think some who do more extreme acts could probably get it up to $5000). This is of the regular So. Cal-based independent websites only mind you...
Last I heard from a model, BangBus was paying $2000 per scene.
Still, what are we talking about before they can't make a living at it anymore just by modelling? 2-3 months tops? Kinda sad, really.
Hence, if a girl is cool and seems to have her head on straight (which is rare), she would stand to make more in the long run by doing her own amateur-style site that was run and promoted properly. She would just get the money over the course of a few weeks and months, rather than upfront.
But of course, most girls need quick cash ASAP, and it comes down to how much they are compromising to get it.
Per my point above, the less of a compromise they feel like it is, the less their price tag is. I think some sites really don't care how their models feel, and while I do not obsess over it, I can say that my absolute worst shoots were the ones where the girl was just trying to make some quick cash and came into the situation almost shut off.
I know what we do, I know what business we are in, but still, I at least like it to be pleasant for the mostpart...
But on the opposite end, I respect the balls of sites like SoCalCoeds who use a fee they pay the girls in their marketing, or DumbPigs who is just mean, mean, mean (but having shot some of those girls, part of me can't help but admire it).
I know the atmoshperes we shoot in and the means we market them in can be night and day different, but I wonder if the more direct "behind the scenes" approach entices the savvier surfer more than selling a fantasy.
