Are you the admin of the dedicated server ? If so then I would suggest using UBUNTU Server because it is much easier to use !

If your not the admin of the dedicated server I would suggest contacting the admin and requesting that they install the background programs for you.. they might charge you for such a service...

Providing that you have both PHP & Mysql installed; just make sure the version number of PHP is the same that you are using...
